Bengal Facts!

What makes a Bengal cat different than other cats?
Besides their obvious looks, Bengals definitely have unique personalities that set them apart from other cats. The Bengal cat is a unique domestic cat descended from the Asian Leopard Cat. This gives them some special characteristics. They are highly active and playful so if you are looking only for a lap cat they might not be the breed for you. They are however freindly, social, and do enjoy a good snuggle.

What is the difference between spots and rosettes?
The Bengal can be spotted, rosetted, or marbled. Spots are markings of one solid color. Rosettes are bi-colored markings surrounded by a different background color. The marble pattern is flowing swirls of color.

Can you harness/leash train them?
Bengals are incredibly smart and take well to a harness. Start them out young. Buy a harness that fits well and get them used to the feel of the harness. I recommend a "walking jacket" specificially designed for a cat. When taking them outside start with a quiet safe area like an uncrowded park or your backyard.

Do they require special care?
Overall the care is very similar to any other breed of cat. I always recommend a good diet of high quality food regardless of the type of cat. Bengals are high energy so I do recommend lots of toys and cat furniture!

Are Bengals good with other cats and dogs?
The kittens I have sold have all gotten along well with other cats and dogs. My kittens grow up around small dogs.

Are bengals good with children?
I place many kittens with families that have children. Bengals are energetic yet gentle cats. It's important to get a well socialized kitten if you plan to have one as a family pet. As with any breed of cat, teach your children how to properly care for and handle cats.

Do they really like the water?
Most Bengals do. Some enjoy getting in the shower or tub with their people. Some enjoy splashing around after toys in in a kiddy pool.
